Dine With Ysabel: Gyoza and Ramen House (Malingap, QC)

Experience the best of Japan in a less-expensive way and satisfy the richness of its culture and food at the Gyoza and Ramen House today. Kanpai!

With the growing number of food parks in the metro from the past few years, Maginhawa remains to be the alpha of them all. There are over a hundred food stops that stretch out the street to choose from, but coziness and the warmth of the Land of the Rising Sun is what the Gyoza and Ramen House in Malingap has. Located in a quiet corner near Kalayaan Avenue, true to its name, the ramen and gyoza in this Japanese inspired establishment is worth coming back to. The inexpensive delectables meets the richness of its taste. #winwin situation here.

Why eat ‘instant’ when you can get a ramen bowl constantly? There’s nothing a ramen bowl can’t fix, did I mention even a healthier option both for you and your pockets? The chashu and sesame ramen bowls are the best bets to give you a full stomach for less than Php 250 – egg, meat, noodles; the classics remain but the thickness and full flavor of the soup takes it all. Even the chahan (Japanese fried rice) in itself stuffs you all up.

The Gyoza and Ramen House assures you the full experience of Japan through taste – even as simple as appetizers and desserts such as the Agedashi dofu and the Mochi Ice Cream. The simplicity of the recipes creates a multitude of Japan’s phases. Head chef and co-owner Agnes Dayao is hands-on the dirty work of the GRH, where the richness of GRH‘s menu is similar to the richness of her knowledge for Japanese cuisine. Her satisfaction, curiosity and passion for the Land of the Rising Sun gave birth to the Gyoza and Ramen House with the help of her in-law and business partner, Dani Cura Dayao, who share the same enthusiasm.

I cannot stress the number of times I’ve gone to Japanese restaurants searching for THE gyoza. The GRH has gives you a variety to choose from. Dare to try different fillings to satisfy whatever #feels you may have with the Mixed Gyozawhere different tastes and colors are met and served in one platter – the spinach, curry, long onion, chili and the original filling of ground beef are delectable in their own special way. The Shrimp Gyoza remains a best seller and a favorite worth returning to by the GRH‘s most frequented customers.

A warm welcome, irrashaimase – the aesthetic of Japan is not to be missed not just through one’s stomach but through the ambiance as well. Wooden chairs, tapestries of newspaper clippings, warm colors of red and brown, replicas of Japan’s famous symbols such as a sakura painting and gumpai uchiwa (hand fan) complete the Japanese experience in that humble little corner in Malingap. Visitors will appreciate the quaintness and zen of the GRH‘s uncrowded environment, as well as their quick, pleasing and high quality service.
